WHAT'S NEW AT THE WALKING G RANCH CAMP

                                                          News                          May 2008

We have lots going on but little time to write about it-so-this will be a quick note! We are very happy with and excited about our new staff mambers(we have picures of three of them for you!).

Sophie Pilkington from NewZeland will be the senior riding instructor, counslor, etc. Sophie's family has a very large sheep and cattle ranch in New Zeland. The area is rugged with steep mountain pastures. They use their horses for all herding work and Sophie is expereneced with show horses. Sophie is studying to become a Veterinarian in New Zeland.

Lela (pronounced Lay-la) Crandall and her family live near Chester CA (lake Almanar area). Lela will be our cook, counslor, etc. Lela's husband Ken is the head of the Lassen County Mental Health Dept., her youngest son Kenny (13) will be attending camp this summer.

Grace Young and her family live near Napa CA. Grace will be a van driver, counselar, etc. Grace is right at home with all our animals here as they have horses, goats, chickens and dogs at home. Grace's husband Paul is the maintenance manager at the Standard Oil refinary in Richmond Ca., her two youngest sons Kyle (13) and Cody (11) will be attending camp this summer.

My grandaughter Mary Rose (Mary Rose will be here for all sessions this year)and I spent the whole day Grocery Shopping in Chico last Wed. Camp starts in just a little over a month and we wanted to be sure to have plenty of good food to go along with our ranch grown meat, eggs, milk and vegitables from our garden (we are planting the garden now!). We are getting everything ready for a really busy fun summer and getting so excited about seeing our old friends again and

meeting all the first time campers we, can hardly stand it.

More news and pictures June 1st (it will be here before we now it) We will tell you more of what use have planned for each session in the next newsletter,
