WHAT EVERY CAMPER AND PARENT NEED TO KNOW
WHAT DO CAMPERS NEED TO BRING?
The following are clothes and equipment that are highly recommended to bring to camp!

CLOTHING - Jeans, shorts, socks, flip flops, bathing suits, tennis shoes, sweatshirts
(During summertime the temperatures average 80 - 90+ degrees during the day and 40 - 60 degrees at night)
(Remember, this is a ranch and clothes will get dirty, sometimes permanently!)
RIDING BOOTS - Inexpensive cowboy boots (sold at most chain stores) or English riding boots.
We do have our own limited supply of boots for those who cannot bring their own.
Boots require a 1 - 1 1/2 inch heel for riding safety purposes.
HELMETS - We use helmets for riding horses and bicycles.
If you have helmets, please bring them along.
We will provide helmets if you cannot bring your own.
FISHING TACKLE - Campers are encouraged to bring a small, inexpensive fishing pole,
spinner lures for Large Mouth bass and salmon eggs for Blue Gill and Catfish . . .
INSECT REPELLENT - We don't have to many mosquitoes here on the ranch, but the ones we do have love fresh meat! Please be sure to bring repellent AND anti-itch cream!
SLEEPING BAGS - Walking G furnishes bunk beds and clean mattresses, but the campers need to bring their own sleeping bag, pillow and blanket.
CAMPING MATERIALS - Campers need to bring a flashlight with new batteries and
a ground cloth (4x8 piece of heavy plastic, or tarp) for our frequent camp outs.
CHAPSTICK, LOTION, AND SUN BLOCK - Please be sure to send plenty of these!
WRITING MATERIALS - Be sure to bring along plenty of paper and envelopes.
PLEASE BRING LOTS OF STAMPS AS WELL!
Our washing machines are working all day long almost every single day.
The boys wash one day, girls the next. Which means only two or three changes of clothes should be plenty.
Also bring a laundry bag with campers name visibly on it so as to not lose clothing.
ALL CLOTHES MUST BE MACHINE WASHABLE!
EVERY ITEM A CAMPER BRINGS MUST BE LABELED WITH CAMPERS NAME!!!
This cannot be stressed enough!
The campers scatter their belongings around the ranch, forest, stream and lakes.
Our staff is trained to locate discarded belongings and reunite them with their owners.
This a big job and sometimes impossible if an item is unmarked!
CANDY AND OTHER SWEETS

Please do not come to camp with candy or junk food of any kind!
If junk food is brought to camp and found by our highly trained sweet searching staff, it will be taken, not returned!
PARENTS - Please do not mail your kids any sweets. They are sweet enough themselves and need no help!
Our staff does check suspicious packages, this year we will use confiscated material to fuel our campfires!
Candy often causes problems with kids eating a wholesome meal and creates jealousy amongst campers.
We offer dessert at lunch and a weekly walk to the Genesee Store for treats. (They are not deprived we promise!)
SPENDING MONEY
An additional $30.00 will be added to your receipt for spending money for each camper.
Our staff will hold each camper's $30.00 and will pass it out as needed.
Please do not send ANY additional money with your child.
If additional money is needed by your child for the trip home, include the amount in your camp fee check and notify us. The money will be given to your child upon departure.
TELEPHONE AND E-MAIL
We operated the ranch and camp for twenty plus years without a phone. The telephone line came out to the ranch in 1976, and even though we've done just fine without a phone in the past, we have now become very dependent on it now.
We do need to keep our one and only phone line open for business and possible emergencies.
After considering the multitude of phone problems and benefits we have arrived at the following policy:
If your child is arriving at camp by Walking G transportation or with another child's parent, and you want to check on a safe arrival, please call after 6:30pm and check with one of our staff. If you want to check on your child's welfare or progress, please do not phone, contact us via e-mail. E-mail is checked every morning by one of our staff.
E-mail is for communication between our staff and parents, no e-mails will be passed on to campers. Please send letters! If you would like to call your child please try to make your call after 3:00pm on the last Friday of the session. We find that phone calls during the regular session sometimes cause campers to develop homesickness that otherwise may not have developed or been a problem, so we try to discourage this. There will always be exceptions to the rule, but the above policy has worked best!
HEALTH AND WELFARE
A health examination is required prior to arrival at camp. The medical form needs to be filled out completely and signed. (This can be sent in with the enrollment application or along with payment)
Close supervision and care are provided by qualified staff members here on the ranch.
If you send any medication for your child, it will be controlled and administered by our staff according to directions.
In the case of an accident or illness, we are well equipped with first aid.
Doctors and hospitals are a short drive away in Greenville and Quincy.
STAFF

The ratio of staff to campers is 1 to 4 or better.
Each one of us enjoys getting to know each and every child as an individual.
We employ only the most highly qualified and compassionate individuals.
Often, in addition to our regular staff, we hire professional foreign counselors to enhance the camp experience.
Please feel free to take a look at our Meet Our Camp Counselors page to get to know our staff a little bit better.
