The Walking G Ranch Camp was founded by Dave Newcomb in June of 1956! Nestled comfortably in the beautiful Sierra Mountains, our unique 200 acre Thoroughbred and cattle ranch is a perfect place for kids to come and just be kids. We operate as a small family ranch, with everyone sharing the fun, to ensure that each camper receives individual attention from all of our dedicated and caring staff. This summer will be the 52nd summer for Dave and his helpful staff to have the pleasure of providing a happy, healthy fun filled vacation for the campers. Throughout the years many former campers have returned to express what a wonderful life changing experience the Walking G was for them. Each year we have many children of former campers attending our sessions. The parents enjoy coming back to re-live and share their camp memories with their children. We hope to continue this tradition with each and every new summer!

We produce much of our own milk, eggs, meat and vegetables to provide wholesome home made meals!

The campers may gather eggs, select vegetables from our garden (which they may help plant and grow), learn to milk the cow (or goat!), and are welcome to help in the kitchen.

Our days are filled with activities that motivate campers to challenge themselves, make friends and work together. Our camp activities include: Learning to care for animals, fishing, arts and crafts, archery, riflery, mountain biking,

beginner-advanced horseback riding, camp horse shows, trail rides, gardening, canoeing, hiking to beautiful views, inner tubing and other water sports, overnight camp outs, training young horses, spending time with the mares and their young friendly foals, group games, laughing, singing around the camp fire, dancing, fun, and companionship!
